Bindi Irwin Remembering Dad Steve Irwin 10-Year After His Death

It has been 10 years since the untimely death of “Crocodile Hunter” host Steve Irwin, and his only daughter Bindi Irwin, 18, keeps up remembering him as her hero, showing a sweet throwback photo on his 10th death anniversary.

The 18-year-old Dancing with the Stars champion captioned a throwback baby photo of herself with her father on Instagram writing, “You’ll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe.”

Steve’s wife, Terri Irwin, also took a social media to honor her late husband. “Happy Father’s Day Australia. Hug your dad,” she captioned a Twitter photo along with her husband holding a young crocodile and two children.

The Australian wildlife expert died on 4 September 2006 after being stung by a stingray while filming an underwater documentary series Ocean’s Deadliest.

The death news of Steve Irwin prompted reactions around the world. Prime Minister John Howard revealed “shock and distress” at the untimely death, saying that “Australia has lost a wonderful and colourful son.”

Steve’s family drive the Australia Zoo on Steve’s legacy now.

Bob Irwin, Steve’s father, revealed a hand writing letter which Steve addressed to his parents in 1998.

“Probably one of the most unfortunate things in a ‘Bloke’s Life’ is that it takes over 30 years to realize how essential you have been to build my character, my ethics and, most importantly, my HAPPINESS,” the letter reads.

Steve added, “At 32, I am finally starting to figure it out. In good times and in bad, you were there. Your strength and endurance to raise me will not go unrewarded. My love for you is my strength!” before concluding, “For the rest of my life I will reflect on the unbelievably GREAT times we’ve shared and will continue to share. You’re my best friends!”
