Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Marry – They Finally Did It

jolieNearly 10 years after meeting on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have tied the knot. A spokesperson for Jolie confirmed the two tied the knot in a released statement. Although the relationship has a fairytale ending, it was also one shrouded by controversy since Pitt got involved with Jolie while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston.

However, Aniston has moved on and appears to be happy for the newlyweds. After being engaged since 2012, the couple chose to wed in a small ceremony, held in a chapel in France this past Saturday. Pitt, 50, and Jolie, age 39, arranged a nondenominational civil ceremony attended by a small number of close family and friends. According to insiders, a judge based out of California officiated the wedding.

Of course, the couple’s six children, to include Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 6 played key roles in the ceremony. Both Maddox and Pax walked their mother down the aisle, daughters Zaraha and Vivienne, were flower girls, and Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers.

Back in 2012, Jolie told a magazine that the idea of getting married was an exciting prospect but as time passed, many people began to question whether the couple would ever marry. In fact, just this past week, several gossip magazines claimed the couple had split. According to Pitt, while marriage would be nice, he and Jolie’s relationship had surpassed that.

Pitt also stated that marrying Jolie was important to him but even more important to their six children. In 2011, Pitt told Ellen DeGeneres that he would never get married again until everyone in the country could marry, a statement made in support of equal rights for gays. Although gay marriage is not legalized in all states, Pitt did see some of his dreams for the future come true.

This marriage is the second for Pitt and the third for Jolie, who was previously married to Johnny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton. Hollywood marriages seldom last but these two have a long history, solid bond, and have shared many ups and downs so there is always hope.
