Carrie Underwood and Husband Expecting First Baby

carrie_underwoodCarrie Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, just announced they will be first-time parents. Just last year, Carrie made a comment in a popular women’s magazine that she did not feel old enough to be a mommy. She went on to say that while mature, she was not ready to be responsible for another human being.

Obviously things have changed, as she and Mike are prepared to take on the challenges but also joys that come from parenthood. With two incredibly talented parents and highly successful careers, the baby will be offered an amazing life.

While music has always been part of Carrie’s life, she became a household name after winning season four of American Idol in 2005. From that time on, her music career skyrocketed with the release of multiple albums and being the recipient of coveted awards to include 11 Academy of Country Music Awards and 7 America Music Awards. She was also inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2008 and the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2009.

Her husband, Mike Fisher, is a Canadian professional ice hockey player with the Nashville Predators associated with the National Hockey League. The couple met at one of her 2008 concerts, followed by becoming engaged in December 2009. In July 2010, Carrie and Mike made their relationship official by getting married at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge.

Carrie, age 31, and Mike, 34, posted an instagram message today, telling the world that they will be sharing yet another success, this time in the form of a baby. The photo featured the couple’s two dogs, one wearing a shirt that read, “I’m going to be a big brother” and the other one with a shirt that said, “I’m going to be a big sister”.

Both Carrie and Mike are huge animal lovers so the announcement fits perfectly in with the things they cherish most.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
