Chelsea Handler’s Shocking Exit from E!

Chelsea HandlerWhile talks have been underway for some time regarding Chelsea Handler leaving her spot on the E! network, she finally made her grand exit. While she may not be everyone’s cup of tea, diehard fans will not be disappointed since Handler is merely leaving to start her new Netflix show, which will debut sometime in 2016.

”Chelsea Lately” has been on the air for seven years, during which time Handler has interviewed and joked around with some of the biggest names in show business such as Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler, Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez, Alanis Morissette, and many others, excluding Ellen DeGeneres. With her incredibly witty style of humor and sharp tongue, Handler always leaves people with something to say – sometimes good and sometimes bad.

During filming of “Chelsea Lately”, Handler was known for performing various stunts and pulling pranks. One in particular became a long running gag – the naked shower fight. While there have been other shower scenes on television, this one topped them all. As part of the gag, many stars joined in to include Sandra Bullock and Conan O’Brien.

For her last hoorah in leaving the E! network, one of Handler’s famous shower scenes was filmed. This final romp was with none other than the queen I want to thank every single person who’s shown up for me in the last seven years,” Handler said. “I never really got a good chance to be serious and say thank you, and I want you to know that I am grateful for this career.”of comedy, Ellen DeGeneres. For this, DeGeneres entered the shower fully clothed and wore a cap while asking why she had never been on the show.

DeGeneres then asked Handler if it was because she was gay to which the totally naked Handler responded, “No. I didn’t even know you were a lesbian. I thought you were married to Ryan Seacrest”. It came as no surprise that Handler, an extremely gutsy woman who has made millions of people laugh over the years, would choose one more shower romp as her final act of defiance.

There is no question that Handler’s show draws a distinct audience but even so, she has become a highly respected and established comedian on late night television. For years, Handler covered a wide range of topics and has always been open about her distain for people like Justin Bieber and the Kardashians.

Only time will tell the direction of her new show on Netflix but it is certain that she will continue to entertain. In her final words, Handler expresses gratitude, “I want to thank every single person who’s shown up for me in the last seven years. I never really got a good chance to be serious and say thank you, and I want you to know that I am grateful for this career”.
