Jim Carrey’s attorney issued a new lawsuit in the wrongful death of Carrey’s deceased ex girlfriend, Cathriona White on Thursday.
Mark Burton filed the lawsuit against the actor on Monday. He claimed Carrey provided White the drugs which she used to kill herself. White took the drugs from Carrey without his cognition – said Jim Carrey. After revising documents Burton alleged that Carrey gave her STDs.
Burton filed the new documents and claimed Carrey gave White three types of sexually transmitted diseases in 2013 –and menaced her to stay quiet.
Marty Singer, lawyer of Jim Carrey, said the new lawsuit is a “baseless,” “malicious,” “bogus,” and “transparent shakedown.”
The new documents include an impulsive handwritten letter from White. In that letter she was writing, “I am 27-years-old and all that was left of me was a shell and a damaged one at that. Picking myself back up emotionally and mentally is one thing… Add in disease. How does someone move on and meet someone new?… I will always be damaged goods and have a stigma attached. So I have to accept something I was always afraid of. Being alone. Being abandoned and alone.”
Burton has responded with his statement saying, “Mr. Carrey and his handlers need to stop with the lies and deception — enough is enough. Do they really expect people to ignore the text messages and the handwritten letter in Cat’s own words?”
Carrey’s attorney Singer claimed that the text message between Carrey and White will demonstrate that the Burton’s accusations are bogus. Singer said that the text message was exchanging in 2014, where Ms. White asked Carrey to continue a serious relationship and they were working out a cohabitation agreement. Furthermore, they were living together until her death.
The 54-year-old actor and White split was happening just one week earlier she passed away. Carrey was present at her funeral and carry her coffin.
