JK Rowling Publishing New Piece for Pottermore on Halloween

JK RowlingJK Rowling, author of the famous Harry Potter series, said in a press release that she will publish a 1,700 word piece of brand new writing on Pottermore next week. In this tale, the focus will be on the Potter nemesis, Dolores Umbridge who in the films was played by Imelda Staunton.

As the former Hogwarts professor, Umbridge was one of the cruelest enemies of Harry Potter but because of her sadistic crusade to persecute Muggle-borns, she was ultimately sentenced to life in Azkaban.

The Umbridge character was first introduced to readers in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, Rowling’s fifth Potter book. Her official title is Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic and the new Defense against the Dark Arts teacher.

Umbridge’s character is one readers both love and hate. On one side, she is evil with an obsession for pink and cats but on the other side, she adds to the darkness of the series. According to the information provided by Rowling, the new piece will be written about the professor’s backstory, along with her own insight into the Umbridge character.

As stated on Pottermore, not only is Umbridge one of the most devious of all Potter characters, she is the sole individual, besides Lord Voldmort, who left a permanent physical scar on lead character Harry. Using a Blood Quill, which an object relating to black magic that instead of ink works with the user’s own blood, Umbridge scarred Harry.

The new Rowling writing will be released on Pottermore on Halloween. This new tale follows other new Potter material released earlier this year on the same website, which includes one story about the Quidditch World Cup along with updates on Harry, Ron, and Hermione, a snarky World Cup liveblog from Rita Skeeter. This piece also delves into Celestina Warbeck, the singing witch.

Rowling and Potter fans are estatic about the upcoming piece and while it is not a full-fledged book as seen with the series, it will surely be another masterpiece.
