Josh Gracin’s Cry for Help

Josh-Gracin3Josh Gracin, American Idol’s season two finalist created quite a scare for family, friends, and fans when this past Thursday, he posted an ominous note that read, “I loved her for 17 years…I made mistakes…I admitted them, told her the truth, and she turned her back on me when I needed her most…I love you all…You have given me the greatest gift. You allowed me to touch your hearts with what I loved to do the most…Please remember me as someone who have his all in his music…Pray for my family as they carry on in this world without me. Goodbye.

The note apparently blaming his wife for troubles in the marriage was taken seriously, especially in light of the late Robin William’s own suicide. Without waiting to respond, law enforcement was called to Gracin’s Spring Hill, Tennessee home shared with his wife and four children.

While doing a welfare check, officers found his wife home but he was nowhere to be found. Fortunately, Gracin was reached by phone and agreed to meet officers at the home. However, before getting there, he was intercepted and with a police escort, drove himself to a nearby hospital where he was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

People across the country were able to breathe a sigh of relief once word came that Gracin was in fact safe. Since the incident, Gracin has sent out a public apology, saying, “I want to thank you all for your prayers and support. I take responsibility for my actions and apologize dearly for what I have put my family through. With the help of my family and friends, I am getting help.”

Sadly, suicide has become an all-too familiar problem in recent years. If anyone feels depressed, hopeless, or simply needs professional support to work through problems, or if an individual knows of someone going through struggles, there are incredible resources available to include the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255).
