Kate Middleton and Prince William: A New Prince on the Way for the Royal Family

Kate Middleton and Prince WilliamAn official spokesperson for the British Royal has confirmed that Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting their second child. Although no one knows for certain how far along she is, medical experts who have not examined Kate believe she is between four and eight weeks because of the timing of Hyperemesis gravidarum, a form of severe morning sickness.

According to the American Pregnancy Association, Hyperemesis gravidarium is a condition characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and electrolyte disturbance. Kate suffered from this same condition while pregnant with the couple’s first child, Prince George. In fact, the illness was so sever she was forced to spend several nights in a hospital.

Those close to the couple said there was no rush to announce this second pregnancy but because she had to once again be hospitalized, they had no option but to reveal the good news early. The official announcement stated that the Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child and that the Queen, along with members on both sides of the family were thrilled with the news.

Because Kate Middleton is again suffering from Hyperemesis gravidarum, the official announcement also mentioned that she would no longer accompany her husband, Prince William, on a planned trip to Oxford. Middleton is currently being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace and as far as attending future engagements, it will depend on how well she responds to treatment.

There is a solo royal tour scheduled toward the end of this month but whether Middleton will go has not yet been determined. This trip to Malta is very important to the Duchess since she has been asked specifically to take the place of the Queen for two days of the trip. For this reason, she is following strict doctor’s orders, hoping she will recover in time. If she is unable to make the trip, Prince William will go instead.

While it has been reported that Middleton is doing well, the tell-tale signs of Hyperemesis gravidarum were quite obvious when she and her husband stepped out in the public eye yesterday. Wearing cropped jeans and a casual top, the Duchess looked incredibly thin, far more than usual. However, with an entire rooting for her to get well, Middleton is said to feel encouraged and loved.
