Miley Cyrus Shocks Again at the VMAs

Miley CyrusUsually, Miley Cyrus’ name is associated with negativity but at this year’s VMAs, she was praised for her decision to take a homeless man with her, not just as a date but to give her acceptance speech for the video, “Wrecking Ball”. Some people thought her date was simply a ploy for getting attention but from reports, it appears the two spent significant time. According to people at the ceremony but also those close to the star, she was genuinely interested in raising awareness for the homeless but also runaways.

In comparison to her stint at the 2014 Video Music Awards’ ceremony when she performed some very graphic sexual moves with Robin Thicke, Cyrus actually had a homeless guy take her place on stage. Knowing how much she enjoys being in the spotlight, this left some people shocked while others just accepted it as “Miley doing what she does best – being Miley”.

Standing tall and proud but also looking somewhat nervous, he said, “All over this city I’ve cleaned your hotel rooms. I’ve been an extra in your movies. I’ve been an extra in life. Though I may have been invisible to you on the street, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought you here tonight. Los Angeles, entertainment capitol, has the largest percentage of homeless youth in America. The music industry will make over $7 billion this year and outside these doors are 54,000 who have no place to call home. If you want to make a powerful change in the world right now, please join us by going to Miley’s Facebook page. A dream you dream alone is only a dream but a dream you dream together is reality.”

Overall, the audience felt having a homeless man give a speech for Cyrus was a very selfless act. Confirming the homeless man was not a prop, there were several photos of he and Cyrus posted all over various social media websites not just at the awards but eating at the famous “In-N-Out Burger”, a popular dining establishment for people after going to the VMAs.
